Creating great soil
This blog focusses on the development of the front garden of a suburban house in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia. It is planned to draw upon the experience of many to finalise a design for a new garden that satisfies the owner's criteria.

Before and
I posted this image on Facebook today. In the garden I have planted 13 tropical fruiting plants. Today I planted nine small shrubs. Although not fruit bearing they will invade the ground with roots, provide shade and attract pollinators. I'm keen to get much of my planting completed during this current North Queensland Wet Season.

Adding another 120mm of composted mulch
Nothing like loading 24 cubic metres of mulch onto many wheelbarrow loads. Your reward is simply hearing the ground singing!
In goes the Star Apple
Finally the last of the large fruit trees is in the ground!
Once the wet season hits in will go the smaller fruit giving shrubs!

Dwarf Coconut
Hopefully these will turn out to be the shorter variety. These plants are often taken for granted and yet they provide so much. I''ve planted two.
White Mulberry.
This is another Bush Tucker tree. If I can't eat the fruit then I'm delighted that the birds just love it!
