This blog focusses on the development of the front garden of a suburban house in Cairns, North Queensland, Australia. It is planned to draw upon the experience of many to finalise a design for a new garden that satisfies the owner's criteria.

Dwarf Coconut
Hopefully these will turn out to be the shorter variety. These plants are often taken for granted and yet they provide so much. I''ve planted two.
White Mulberry.
This is another Bush Tucker tree. If I can't eat the fruit then I'm delighted that the birds just love it!
Valencia Orange
I visited Valencia in 2008 and just loved the many Orange trees lining so many streets. I just love oranges!
Soursop
Just imagine picking one of these and spooning out the sweet custard like flesh! Thanks to Susan for her generous gift of this tree. Yum
Mangosteen
All I have to do is wait another six or seven years and then I'll be harvesting these jewels! This tree lives way down in my back yard behind my pool.
Lime
This tree I transplanted about six month ago, pruned it heavily ready to be espaliered in front of my shed at the back of my house.
The planting process.
Let the pics tell the story!! You can see that the hole is quite large. Into this I added a
generous amount of compost, water and original soil and mixed it well. When at the consistency of stiff cement I added the tree and completed the process. To keep the site clean the wheel barrow allowed tempoary storage of the soil.
